About the show:
There will be approximately 120 exhibition stands, plus demonstrations, interactive areas, artist talks, cafés, RAW Talent area and our new art&Home section which will showcase on the 1st floor and mezzanine level.
We are looking for interior, kitchen, wallpaper designers and more to design and create a room set to showcase at art&York 2019.
We are looking for creative professionals and budding interior designers, to create inspirational roomsets for our 4.5k visitors to see. Each room set is to be a unique look at your product (kitchen, wallpaper etc) or an insight into your design ethos (interior designers). Each room set will feature key pieces of artwork from our talented professional artists. It might be a piece of sculpture in a kitchen area, handmade ceramics on your shelving or an abstract painting on the wall. Whatever art you choose will be a reflection of the way you see art adding to your design.
This is a great opportunity for industry professionals to showcase their own room set to a fantastic audience with a keen eye for art and design. However, you don’t have to be a professional or even have experience with curating interiors, we are simply looking for people with a real passion for creating and a great eye.
You will be provided with a blank room set in an ‘L’ shape complete with a plug point and spot lights to design and create your interior however you like.
How can you use the space to promote you and your work?
If you are a kitchen designer or interior designer you can be promoting your work and taking orders/commissions/connecting with clients.
If you are a wallpaper designer or paint manufacturer you can be promoting your work and selling direct on the day as well as meeting new clients.
Utilizing art and contemporary craft for sale within the show:
Art on display in these room sets must be from the artists taking part in art&York 2019 and we need to see at least 3 artists featured within each room. Our website will be updated with 2019 artists throughout May 2019 so you’ll be able to see their inspirational artwork and choose the artists who’s work you’d love to feature in your design.
For example: do you love everything contemporary and colourful? We could team you up with one of our fantastic sculptors who create dramatic abstract artworks. Or maybe your style is more natural and would suit a collection of hand thrown ceramic vessels, with over 120 artists creating unique artworks there are plenty of possibilities for creative collaborations.
If you don’t know which of our artists to choose and would like our advice to help connect you with artists – just tell us a little about the colours or shapes or types of work you imagine could work and we can help connect you with the right artists.
Your room sets will then be judged at art&York and the winning set designer will be awarded with their very own bespoke hand crafted art& trophy and a promotional article on our website.

About the show:
There will be approximately 120 exhibition stands, plus demonstrations, interactive areas, mini workshops, café, RAW Talent area plus our new art&Home area featuring a small number of high quality and unique room sets.
Room set designers will be able to stay with their room sets throughout the duration of the show if they want to and will have an extra wristband for helpers if needed.
As with all our shows we aim to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for artists and visitors alike.
We aim to give budding designers and creatives the chance to showcase their talents at the show and help promote the amazing work of the artists taking part in the show.

Room Set Spaces:
Art Display Panel Stand:
We use a Art Display Panel system which creates walls of plywood painted white to create a professional gallery type display.
The Art Display Panels in the room set area are approximately 2m high and will form an ‘L’ shape for you to display within. Depending on the stand size you’ve selected within the application form you’ll receive that size stand made up of these panels which creates a bay for you to display within.
You are allowed to nail, screw or stick to the Panels to add shelves and artwork. Please note: all stands must be left clear of any additions at the end of the show. You are not allowed to wallpaper your Art Display Panels with wallpaper paste but you can pin sheets of wall paper in place. You can paint the display boards with waterbased paints. NO OIL PAINTS PLEASE.
Each room set area will have LED spotlights provided if needed and one plug socket. if you need more plug sockets you can tick a box on the form below and you will be billed £50 for each extra plug socket required – just click this option on the application form. We have various sizes of room sets available. Just tick the appropriate box on the application form below to indicate your preferred stand size.
Stands in the art&Home area sit on a carpeted area. If you require specific flooring, you’ll need to bring that with you. Please note: you cannot fix into the floor/carpet but you can lay tongue and groove flooring etc on top of the carpet.
Please note: a professional & safe finish to all displays of work is required. Artists who leave velcro/nails/screws etc on their stands at the end of the show will be charged £50. Thank you.
Room set designers will receive free online tickets to send to friends, businesses, magazines etc the number of which is dependent on the size of the stand booked.
Practicalities at the show:
There is free parking for artists & designers for the full weekend and loading and unloading is easy and accessible with ground floor access into the main reception and a lift to take work/furniture etc up to the mezzanine and 1st floors.
We have an extra half day set up for art&Home and art&Installation artists/designers only to help make sure you have excellent access and an easy set up on Wednesday 23rd October in the afternoon. Thursday 24th October is set up day for all artists and designers and so will be busier in the car park area.
Please note: large items of furniture etc maybe more difficult to move around the building so think about that within your design.
You cannot stay overnight in your vehicle however you can leave your vehicle overnight if you are staying in a local hotel/B&B etc.
The venue is light and airy and the aisles wide and comfortable for artists and visitors alike.
There is a non-refundable application processing fee of £10.00.
If selected your stand fee will be due in full on Sunday 28th July 2019. 50% is non refundable. 50% is refundable if cancellation in made within 1 month of the first day of the show.
Rules of eligibility:
We accept applications from individual designers/businesses or a groups of designers working together.
Designers must be creating a unique look at not copying another designers concept.
All artwork displayed within the room set must be from artists taking part in the main show and we’d like to see at least 3 artists featured within each room.
We expect to see inspiring photographs/drawings/mood boards of your proposed room set and this will form the basis of our selection.
Images and descriptions sent could be used for publicity purposes for successful designers.
All successful applicants must have current Public Liability Insurance on the days of the art& show and bring a copy of their PLI to the show.
