art&York hosts installations by selected artists alongside 120 selling artists.

We are looking for creative & innovative INSTALLATION ARTISTS to apply to take part in our 2019 show in York creating a unique visitor experience. We have large scale window area, entrance way, wall space and hanging areas available to use.

If you would like to apply to take part in art&York 2019 as a Installation Artist please read through ‘more information’ below and fill in our application form at the bottom of this page. We’ll be delighted to receive your application.

*this fee is non-refundable and due whether your application is successful or unsuccessful as it pays for your application to be seen by the selection panel. Thank you.

art& York is freshly branded, improved and developed to be the major art show in Yorkshire.

About the show:

There will be approximately 120 exhibition stands, plus demonstrations, interactive areas, live music, mini workshops, café, RAW Talent area & installations.

We aim to give installation artists the chance to show their own work and receive commissions in a creative & professional environment with zero up front fees.

As with all our shows we aim to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for artists and visitors alike.

Installation Options

Various areas for installations are available including hanging space, wall space, floor space and outside space.

We are also interested in installations being created over the weekend as a growing creation.

Please note: a professional & safe finish to all displays of work is required. Thank you.

There is no fee for creating an installation nor is there a fee for the space used.

Important Information: Depending on the proposed installation you will be allocated a space within the show. Any sales/commissions at the show will be handled by art& and will be subject to 30% commission. Any monies due to installation artists will be paid within 30 days of the show.

art& offer Installation Artists the opportunity to create an installation that will showcase at the art& show over the 3-days.

You will have your own profile page on our website plus your work promoted via our website and social media as appropriate.

You will be responsible for any signage etc for your installation – please note: any signage must be appropriate and in keeping with the installation itself.

You will also have a Standard Installation Listing in our Event Magazine listing your name and installation title. If you wish to have an Upgraded Listing in our Event Magazine with image and increased text – see options on the application form.

Practicalities at the show:

There is free parking for installation artists for the full weekend and loading and unloading is easy and accessible with ground floor access. You cannot stay overnight in your vehicle however you can leave your vehicle overnight if you are staying in a local hotel/B&B etc.

The venue is light and airy and the aisles wide and comfortable for artists and visitors alike.

We have a separate storage space for packaging materials – although your vehicle will only be a maximum of 10 mins away.

Application Fee:

There is a non-refundable application processing fee of £10.00.

Rules of eligibility:

We accept applications from individual artists or a groups of installation artists working together under a joint name in this section.

If you want to apply to sell your own work at the show you need to apply as an Individual Artist or as a Collective Group or as a Gallery – please see our Individual Artists application form &  Gallery & Collectives application form here.

The installation must stay complete for the duration of the show. If part or all of the installation is sold during the event it must not be dismantled or taken away until the event closes on Sunday 27th October 2019 @ 4pm.

Only installation artists creating a unique visitor experience will be selected.

Availability at the show:

‘Meet the artist’ is so important to us and our visitors therefore we’d love all installation artists to be at the show at some point each day, if possible, meeting the visitors and talking about the processes of their work.


We expect to see professional photographs of your work and this will form the basis of our selection. Poor images reflect badly on even amazing work. We expect to see the kind of images we would be happy to print, put forward for press and put on our website.

A plain background and a sharp image can really help.

Images and descriptions sent will be used for publicity purposes for successful artists and will be used to create profile pages on our website – so please consider the images you send carefully.

Please give us the scale/size and price (if appropriate) of your work.

Important Information:

All successful applicants must have current Public Liability Insurance on the days of the art& show and bring a copy of their PLI to the show.
